Project title: Pragma
Project type: 3D shoes concept
Tools: Blender 3D, After Effects, and hand-drawn sketches
Role: art direction and 3D design
Background: The 'Pragma' shoes are designed for modern men who value
both
elegance and comfort. Inspired by a balance between sporty functionality and chic style,
the shoes would feature materials that are not only sustainable but also thoughtfully integrated
into the
design to enhance both aesthetic appeal and performance.
In philosophy, particularly in the context of love, “pragma” refers to a practical, long-term form
of love that develops
over time, often based on shared goals and commitments.
Crafted from premium leather and high-quality
rubber, with recycled steel for the logo, these shoes prioritise style and comfort. The collection
incorporates
Piñatex™, a sustainable and cruelty-free alternative to leather, along with GOTS-certified Organic
Cotton for
responsible manufacturing. Additional materials include FRUMAT™ Apple Skin, made from waste produced
by the apple
juice industry, Eco Microfibre (Vegan Leather), Cork, Coir (a mix of coconut husk and natural
latex), and Natural
Rubber, all reinforcing the commitment to eco-friendly design.
Whether paired with casual jeans, sophisticated trousers, or elegant attire, the Pragma shoes are
perfect for any o
ccasion, embodying a balance of sporty chic and refined fashion.
Experience the future of footwear with the Pragma Shoes Concept—where elegance meets eco-conscious
design.
This animated reveal introduces Pragma emerging slowly from the shoe box.
I wanted the sequence to feel almost ceremonial, highlighting the textures, the craftsmanship, and the
interplay between sustainable materials and sculpted form. Every frame reflects the design philosophy
behind Pragma: understated, intentional, and driven by a long-term vision of elegance and
function.
These sketches show the earliest stages of my Pragma concept, where I
began exploring silhouette, structure, and the quiet logic that would eventually guide the entire
design. Working by hand allows me to think more intuitively, testing proportions, components, and
movement long before I open Blender. Each drawing captures a moment in that iterative process; a
conversation between form and function, sustainability and elegance, practicality and aspiration.
Looking back at them now, I can see how the identity of Pragma first took shape on paper, revealing
the foundations of a shoe conceived not just as an object, but as a long-term expression of thoughtful
design.
Here’s a glimpse of the blockout phase of the Pragma shoe, straight
from the
3D software used to design it. This early stage helps define the structure and proportions
before refining the details such as material, textures, and final rendering.
Soft hues and subtle contrasts reimagine Pragma with a lighter voice —
playful yet grounded, a reminder that innovation can also feel gentle.
Pragma in white feels almost weightless — a calm, architectural presence
that elevates everyday movement with clarity and grace.
The Black Edition distils Pragma to its purest form — sculptural,
discreet, and unwavering. A study in restraint, created for the modern minimalist.
In deep burgundy, Pragma reveals its more contemplative side — a design
shaped for those who move with intention, grounded in craft and quiet confidence.
In deep amber tones, Pragma reveals a more expressive side — bold yet
meticulously engineered, created for those who choose distinction.
